1.
Politics is just another party I was never invited to The American dream is a death sentence If not, a nightmare oozing red and swelling blue A country full of hypocrites Do nothing but complain, but still they stay You must be content with a sinking ship If you don’t want a say in the world today I grew up being told my curiosities were wrong Told I was worthless by some, it would never be my day I was born with the cord wrapped around my neck And I refuse to go out the same way Stand up- Take action against hate Educate- Don't scrutinize or discriminate We are people of the world, not countries Rise Above- Don't sink with the dead weight
2.
You never hold me like you mean it till its over You never tell me that you love me when you’re sober And every hour I lost sleep through it all You just set another brick on your wall I never told you I was lost until I lost you I never held on to the grudge I was supposed to And every hour you gave me time of day I let my fears all get in the way But I can still hear the buzzing of the tattoo shops And the soft, hot feeling of your teardrops We let our roof turn into sky And we felt the rain like it was the first time Despite the drama and the tragedy, I miss it all Restraining every single day from reaching out to call And when the sun burns the earth to a crisp I hope that I’m humming on your lips, I hope your nails scratch and rip
3.
The night I looked for her, I knew she was there Found the weapon and the evidence before I knew where By the time you got back, it was as dark as it gets It took the life of your pawns before you chose to confess Then came regret, “Arrest me,” you said You know as well as I that you’re as good as dead Was it worth it? I’m angry. I’m frantic. I’m breaking my rule. The blood on this cleaver proves I’m losing my cool Men get arrested, dogs get put down Vengeance in the strike of each chopping sound I do not compromise There was warmth in the blood, coldness in the night, Terror in our eyes

Things got fucked before they got better Our love was a hale storm- we couldn’t keep it together And I was shaken. I wish I was mistaken, But the truth was harder than the road we tried takin’ I tried to get back out into the world, but I can never relate I can’t believe a tag line that says “I’m not your average date” If you’re not a book reader, then I’m not a dinner buyer If you’re not down for shows or handing out flyers The wind’s too strong; I just can’t catch a spark to start the fire I Know- Wanting too much of something doesn’t make it show But I just wanna connect, to connect to somebody I Know- The future’s looking fucking dull But I just wanna connect, to connect to somebody else I’d rather be rejected, than to be led on, I get so fuckin’ pissed I skip my meals to pay for yours, trying to prove I give a shit It only hurts more, staring at the door Waiting for a knock that never comes I doze off and pretend the sweater I lent has my scent It forces ‘em to think the best times we ever spent They shut their eyes, holding their new partners hand Pretending it was mine You took a bat to our hourglass; chances are we still had so much time I Know- Wanting too much of something doesn’t make it show But I just wanna connect, to connect to somebody I Know- The future’s looking fucking dull But I just wanna connect, to connect to somebody else
